A career opportunity for an experienced learning support specialist — or a talented classroom teacher ready to step into this work — in a growing, highly regarded school located in Wairakei Village, 9km north of Taupō, the adventure capital of the central North Island and home of the Great Lake.
This position sits at the intersection of classroom practice and school-wide strategy. You will lead learning support across the school, with a particular focus on ORS-funded students — coordinating IEPs, working alongside teachers in classrooms, managing MOE documentation, and building strong relationships with whānau and external agencies. It is detailed work and deeply relational work, and for the right person, there is no more purposeful place to be in a school.
The junior and senior teams are collaborative by habit, not just by policy. Leadership is present and listens. The school is financially stable, sits on a strong ERO review cycle, and is surrounded by a village community that is genuinely invested in its students — including those with the greatest needs.
We are seeking someone who:
understands the ORS framework and MOE learning support systems or is willing to learn quickly
builds genuine trust with whānau navigating complex systems
works alongside teachers as a colleague, not just a resource
brings organisation and clarity to documentation without losing sight of the child
holds high expectations for every learner, regardless of their starting point
This role is offered at Scale A without management units at this stage — we're being upfront about that. The position is permanent, full-time, and available for immediate start by arrangement.
