About this role
This role supports secondary student wellbeing , university, and career guidance, combining counselling, programme leadership, and teaching. The counsellor works closely with students, staff, and families to ensure strong pastoral care and successful post-secondary pathways.
Key responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group counselling to support student wellbeing
Lead and deliver a whole-school SEL programme, including workshops on resilience, mental health, and relationships.
Deliver structured College & Careers guidance, including full support with university applications (e.g., UCAS, Common App)
Organise university visits, career fairs, and student workshops
Lead the school’s university pathways and support international admissions
Use student data to inform interventions and support safeguarding and wellbeing
Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies
Contribute to crisis response and safeguarding procedures
Teach 5 periods per week of Values / College & Careers (Years 9–12)
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with certification in School Counselling
Proven experience in college/university application advising
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
Commitment to student wellbeing and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
Familiarity with UCAS and knowledge of international admissions systems (UK, US, Canada, Europe) is advantage
