About this role

This role supports secondary student wellbeing , university, and career guidance, combining counselling, programme leadership, and teaching. The counsellor works closely with students, staff, and families to ensure strong pastoral care and successful post-secondary pathways.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group counselling to support student wellbeing

  • Lead and deliver a whole-school SEL programme, including workshops on resilience, mental health, and relationships.

  • Deliver structured College & Careers guidance, including full support with university applications (e.g., UCAS, Common App)

  • Organise university visits, career fairs, and student workshops

  • Lead the school’s university pathways and support international admissions

  • Use student data to inform interventions and support safeguarding and wellbeing

  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies

  • Contribute to crisis response and safeguarding procedures

  • Teach 5 periods per week of Values / College & Careers (Years 9–12)

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with certification in School Counselling

  • Proven experience in college/university application advising

  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to student wellbeing and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff

  • Familiarity with UCAS and knowledge of international admissions systems (UK, US, Canada, Europe) is advantage

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
