About This Role

This position is a live-in residential role where the selected individual will focus on the safeguarding, well-being, and security of students, working closely with the Houseparent (HP) and the House team.

The responsibilities associated with this role may include a variety of tasks. We are primarily looking for a Residential Assistant Houseparent (RAHP) who is dedicated and attentive to the needs of the students. The following duties are not all-inclusive, and the responsibilities will involve handling various incidents and situations that may call for initiative and sound judgment.

The ideal applicant should have a passion for working with young people and demonstrate strong judgment skills. Excellent interpersonal abilities are crucial for effectively connecting with both students and their parents or guardians. This entails being an attentive listener, maintaining a flexible approach, being dependable, and showcasing a warm and welcoming attitude, as well as the sensitivity to exercise tact and diplomacy. A good sense of humor and a composed demeanor are also important for navigating all situations in a collaborative and thoughtful way.

This role requires physical fitness and a reasonable level of stamina. It is understood that each House may have a slightly different framework for this position, influenced by the unique circumstances, strengths, and skills of the individuals in these roles. The responsibilities will vary based on whether the RAHP is placed in a junior or senior House, typically necessitating attendance for 4 out of 5 weekday afternoons, with one full day off weekly. Furthermore, there will be two evening duties that include overnight on-call responsibilities. Weekend duties are expected to be approximately 2 out of 3 weekends, along with some tutoring assistance at different times over the weekend.
