About the Role

 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy Team. In this vital role, you will support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs by delivering high‑quality OT assessment, intervention, and guidance across the school. Working closely with teachers, therapy colleagues, families, and external professionals, you will help shape a holistic, child‑centred provision that enables pupils to thrive and reach their full potential.

You will manage your own clinical caseload, contribute to EHCP processes, provide staff training, and play a key role in developing integrated therapeutic approaches that remove barriers to learning.

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications

 

·         Degree in Occupational Therapy (required)

·         HCPC registration (required)

·         Sensory Integration training (desirable)

Experience

·         Experience working with children with special educational needs (e.g., Autism, SEMH, ADHD).

·         Experience in a school or specialist setting (desirable).

·         Experience administering assessments and meeting statutory requirements.

·         Experience contributing to multi‑disciplinary work.

·         Safeguarding experience (desirable).

Skills and Knowledge

·           Valid driver’s licence.

·           Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

·           Ability to confidently administer assessments and interpret clinical findings.

·           Strong understanding of EHCP processes and documentation.

·           Ability to work independently and use initiative.

·           Strong teamwork skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.

·           Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.

·           Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage pupils.

·           Confident use of technology to support therapy delivery.

Key Responsibilities

 

·           Deliver OT assessment, planning, and interventions aligned with EHCP objectives.

·           Manage and prioritise a clinical caseload in line with professional standards.

·           Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with HCPC standards and GDPR.

·           Contribute to Annual Reviews and provide written and verbal reports.

·           Work collaboratively with teachers, therapy colleagues, and external agencies.

·           Engage and communicate with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and strategies.

·           Design and deliver training for staff to support whole‑school practice.

·           Support pupils to develop functional, emotional, and regulation skills that enhance learning.

·           Participate in regular supervision and ongoing service evaluation.

·           Promote safeguarding and maintain a safe environment for all pupils.

·           Uphold high standards of professionalism including attendance, punctuality, and conduct.

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
