About This Role

Scope

Teaching & Curriculum Development

·       Based on national curriculum standards, referencing international counterparts and the IB curriculum framework, and considering the developmental characteristics of elementary and middle school students, collaborate with subject team members to design and implement Mingwan's distinctive music curriculum. This fosters students' interest in music while cultivating their musical literacy and appreciation skills.

·       Establish a multi-dimensional assessment system to conduct competency-based student evaluations. Provide regular feedback to parents regarding students' musical skill development.

·       Collaborate with subject team members to plan, organize, and execute music-themed events and performances, fostering a vibrant musical atmosphere on campus. Participate in or lead interdisciplinary learning activities or project-based learning initiatives, enabling students to apply musical skills and experience the beauty of music in authentic contexts.

·       Engage in music subject teaching and research activities, sharing pedagogical insights and proposing curriculum enhancement suggestions.

·       Continuously pursue professional development and acquire new teaching methodologies, contributing innovative approaches to advance the school's music education.

Elective Courses, After-School Programs, and Music Club Organization and Scheduling

·       In conjunction with the school's overall curriculum objectives, student interest surveys, and parental needs, assist the Music Department Director in developing plans and implementation strategies for elective courses, after-school programs, and music clubs.

·       Participate in curriculum design to ensure continuity with regular courses while emphasizing enrichment.

·       Assist in coordinating and managing external professional instructors, clarifying teaching requirements and scheduling, and overseeing instructional quality.

·       Coordinate music classroom and equipment usage with the Music Department Director to prevent scheduling conflicts.

·       Assist in planning and organizing after-school program showcase performances, including process design and program arrangement.

Music Department Administration and Collaboration

·       Manage the music classroom and equipment room, conducting regular inspections and maintenance of instruments/equipment.

·       Organize departmental teaching materials, categorize and archive documents, and assist in completing annual teaching summaries.

·       Support music performance requirements for major school events, including program planning, rehearsals, and on-site execution.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or above in Music or related field with Music teaching license
- At least 5 years of music teaching experience in primary and secondary schools, with an international music education background. Must possess solid music theory knowledge, experience teaching international music curricula, and experience leading performance ensembles. Strong skills in personal accompaniment and solo performance, with excellent musical performance abilities. Piano majors preferred.

- Knowledge of international and Chinese and international immersion curricula. Possess the ability to teach entirely in English
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that incorporate music, drama, dance, and/or other forms of performance art
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and students

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
