This is a full-time, permanent position commencing on 15 June. The position could commence sooner if the successful applicant is able to start before 15 June.
The successful applicant will be competent in a variety of counselling approaches, have experience working with young people and their whānau | families, demonstrate cultural competence in their practice and demonstrate excellent communication skills through effective collaboration with colleagues, management and senior leadership.
The counselling role includes:
One-on-one student counselling.
Engaging with whānau and families as needed to support students’ experiences.
Working within the Student Services Team to triage referrals and participate in MDT meetings.
Confidential management of student cases.
Desired skills
Experience working with adolescents, children, and whānau | families from a variety of backgrounds.
A well-developed understanding of how to navigate ethical concerns.
Effective engagement with wider school staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with various software applications - familiarity with KAMAR is a plus.
Respond effectively in high stress and crisis situations.
Formal qualification in counseling or relevant field.
Current registration with NZ Counsellors Association, or other relevant professional body.
At least 3-5 years’ experience in relevant counselling and therapy field.
