About This Role

UWC Dilijan is on the lookout for a Geography Teacher to join our vibrant international community beginning in August 2026. At UWC Dilijan, your responsibilities will transcend traditional teaching; you will inspire students from 80 different countries to build connections, deepen cross-cultural understanding, and promote peace. If you are an experienced educator with a passion for mission-driven education, we warmly invite you to apply.

As one of the 18 United World Colleges, UWC Dilijan is a diverse international boarding school situated in Armenia. Founded in August 2014, we currently educate over 220 students aged 16 to 18 from 80 nations, all pursuing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

We adhere to the philosophy that education acts "as a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future" (UWC Mission Statement). Our community is not only focused on academic excellence but is also committed to nurturing each individual’s growth according to UWC’s principles and values, ensuring our students learn and thrive.

UWC Dilijan is part of a wider network of organizations dedicated to transforming Armenia, including the IDeA Foundation, the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, and the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology. As an educator here, you will have opportunities to engage with this broader context, whether through innovative partnerships, high-level humanitarian and technology forums, or hosting distinguished speakers in your classroom.

At UWC Dilijan, you will take on the role of not just a teacher but also a mentor, an outdoor enthusiast, and an integral participant in our residential life. The opportunities to contribute to both Dilijan and the larger UWC mission are limitless. We invite you to explore our website and social media pages to discover the inspiring stories shaped by our community.

Responsibilities:

In your position at UWC Dilijan, you will actively engage with our community in the following capacities:

Develop and deliver a dynamic academic curriculum that utilizes the diversity of our 80 nationalities to enrich learning and foster cross-cultural understanding.

Act as a dedicated mentor, supporting our residential life program while assisting students in their personal, moral, and social growth within a multicultural boarding environment.

Participate actively in our Outdoor Education and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programs, enabling students to uncover their voices and passions through experiential learning.

Collaborate with a team of international educators, sharing insights and expertise to encourage the holistic development of each student.

Serve as an ambassador for our core values, transforming education into a lived experience that fosters peace and sustainability through personal initiative and institutional partnerships.

Personal and Professional Specifications:

We recognize that every educator brings a unique journey, contributing various strengths and experiences to our community. While the following criteria outline our ideal candidate, we value the diverse paths that lead educators to join us.

A minimum of three years of teaching experience with a passion for inspiring young people; familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme is a significant advantage in our academic environment.

A proven history of engaging with children and adolescents, whether in traditional educational settings or through impactful youth-related work.

A degree in your subject area. Advanced degrees in education, counseling, or related fields are highly regarded as they enhance our comprehensive approach to student development.

A strong commitment to student safety, including prior safeguarding training. If this is not already in place, you should be prepared to undergo thorough training to uphold our high standards of care.

Fluency in English and a genuine interest in international and intercultural environments. Proficiency in additional languages and previous intercultural living experiences are valuable assets in our diverse community.

Experience contributing to the broader educational landscape as an IB examiner, workshop leader, or CIS visiting team member. We value individuals who bring these external perspectives to our campus.

Enthusiasm for the distinctive rewards that accompany living and working in a residential school, where learning is a continuous journey.

Benefits:

An exceptional opportunity to mentor a diverse and socially conscious group of young people from 80 different nations.

Access to outstanding professional development opportunities.

A renewable two-year contract that provides long-term stability within an international educational network.

A competitive salary, fixed in USD and disbursed in Armenian Dram, ensuring financial security in a dynamic economy.

Generous relocation and annual travel allowances to assist you and your family as you integrate into our community and maintain global connections.

Comprehensive medical and travel insurance, ensuring access to world-class healthcare.

Rent-free accommodation (on or off-campus) inclusive of all utilities and full board in our canteen.

Full access to the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, including an indoor pool, high-performance gym, theatre, and inspiring art and design studios.

A dedicated social and wellness program for staff and their families, featuring activities such as aqua fitness and yoga, alongside cultural excursions to foster a sense of community.
