JOB IDENTITY

Location: Brookes Moscow, Russia

Reports to: Head of Social Sciences / Programme Coordinator

Brookes Moscow, a premier international school with a strong International educational influence, invites

applications for the role of Geography Teacher. This position with responsibility for the vision, development,

and delivery of the school’s comprehensive Geography program, spanning Upper, and Senior School.

The Geography Teacher are responsible for maximising the academic progress of the students they teach,

working with colleagues to participate fully in the development of the department. Teacher promote a positive,

purposeful and professional working atmosphere that encourages cooperation and challenge, whilst valuing

the contribution that individuals make to the success of the Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach Geography across Grades 9–12, includingAP Human Geography where applicable.

• Incorporate inquiry-based learning, GIS tools, thematic case studies, map-reading, data interpretation, and geographic fieldwork.

• Plan assessments that mirror AP expectations, including FRQs, document analysis, and extended response questions.

• Encourage students to develop critical thinking about global issues such as sustainability, population, climate, migration, and geopolitics.

• Integrate technology (Google Earth, ArcGIS, data simulations) into learning.

• Participate in departmental planning, curriculum review, and resource development.

• Maintain rigorous academic expectations while supporting student wellbeing.

• Be respectful of the needs of colleagues and the department with regards to cooperation, collegiality, deadlines and team cohesion

• Participate positively in departmental meetings, follow policies and generally contributing to the effective and efficient running of the department

• Promote professional dialogue, share ideas about teaching and learning and support other teachers in developing good practice and new approaches and initiatives

• Take part in, and contribute to activities offered in the department and by the School.

• Enthusiastically contribute to cross-curricular links and initiatives, and Leadership in Action activities

• Keep up to date with developments in the Subject, and in education generally

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, or related field; Master’s preferred.

• Teaching qualification required.

• Experience teaching high-school Geography; AP experience a significant advantage.

• Understanding of inquiry and project-based learning methodologies.

• Ability to differentiate instruction for varied learning abilities.

• Technological proficiency for digital geography tools.

• Fluent English required.

• Culturally responsive teaching mindset. Strong safeguarding awareness.

• A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children

• Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities

• Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
