ECE Teacher

Stepping Stones is looking for a qualified and certificated kaiako to join our preschool teaching team from May 2026.

Our centre has a homely atmosphere with a team culture which reflects professional relationships, a commitment to continual improvement, a sense of humour, and a collective belief that the education and care of children and their families is paramount.

Stepping Stones is a not-for-profit community-owned centre, governed by a board of trustees. Our under-2s space has a maximum of 14 children, aged 6 months to 2 ½ years old. The preschool has a maximum of 29 children, aged 2 years to school age. Our centre has a large outdoor area with a focus on a sustainable future for the centre and the greater community.

We are looking for a teacher who has:

• a NZ recognised ECE qualification recognised as level 7 (or above).
• provisional or full certification. We have an experienced team, with an ability to provide mentoring for new graduates and/or provisional certificated teachers
• the ability to work well in a team and with a wide range of people
• the ability to identify children’s unique strengths and interests through planning and assessment
• sound knowledge of Te Whāriki
• good communication and time management skills
• NZ citizenship, residency, or a valid NZ work permit.
