About This Role

The International German School Hefei is seeking a dynamic and adaptable EAL Teacher who also brings teaching expertise in either Arts, Music, P.E., or ICT to support both primary and secondary learners.

As a newly established school with a dual-track system – German-Bilingual and English-Cambridge – we are building an inclusive and language-sensitive learning environment from the ground up. Our learners come from primarily German, Chinese, and Korean language backgrounds. Therefore, English language learning is essential to their academic and personal development.

This position is an opportunity to co-create an EAL programme, develop a robust and inclusive EAL framework, and lead the way in building a language-sensitive school environment. You’ll play a key role in shaping the programme and contributing to a culture of professional development and academic innovation.

Key responsibilities
1.Deliver EAL instruction tailored to students’ proficiency levels (Entering to Bridging)
2.Teach EAL to small groups and/or through in-class support in primary and/or secondary years
3.Assess English proficiency and track student progress using EAL frameworks
4.Teach Arts, Music, P.E., or ICT in a dual-track environment within an IB framework (German national curriculum / Cambridge Curriculum)
5.Work closely with homeroom teachers to differentiate instruction for EAL learners
6.Contribute to the school’s evolving language policy and teacher training initiatives

Candidate profile
7.Qualification in English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL/ELL) or equivalent
8.Additional experience in teaching Arts, Music, P.E. or Science in primary and/or secondary years
9.Familiarity with WIDA or other EAL proficiency frameworks is a strong asset
10.Experience in curriculum development or school start-up projects is a plus
