Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in, Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates do not need to fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a passion for community-centered education are greatly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both written and spoken)
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
- Experience teaching in cross-cultural or northern Canadian environments

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy strategies
- Training or experience utilizing modern assessment techniques to enhance learning
- Experience in fostering a positive learning environment through effective classroom management approaches (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Background in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Ability to connect with students outside the classroom when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning educational instruction and student support
- Proven capability to work cooperatively as part of a school team
- Experience contributing to and learning within a community-focused environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 – 147,243 (dependent on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Whale Cove, Nunavut: $21,564
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently employed by the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications missing this documentation will not be reviewed.
