Our campus boasts a main building with nearly 60,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities spread across three levels, which include student residences, a cafeteria, a dance studio, and a two-story gymnasium, among other resources.
We are currently in search of a Business Leadership & Accounting – High School Teacher who will skillfully create, organize, and implement an instructional program that cultivates a learning atmosphere that encourages students to achieve their academic potential.
Key responsibilities involve:
- Delivering lessons to students utilizing various teaching methods, including lectures and demonstrations, enhanced by audiovisual aids.
- Crafting Business course objectives and outlines that align with curriculum standards and school expectations.
- Assigning homework and assessing student submissions.
- Conducting evaluations to assess student progress, documenting results, and communicating academic performance to parents.
- Keeping attendance records and coordinating with the principal and guardians as necessary.
- Maintaining classroom discipline through appropriate measures when required.
- Engaging with parents to discuss student achievements and challenges.
- Participating in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Performing ancillary responsibilities, such as sponsoring activities or student organizations, advising students on course selections, and providing support for academic and adjustment issues.
- Guiding and supervising students in the use of educational resources and equipment.
- Ensuring all required records are accurately maintained in accordance with Ministry and school regulations.
- Taking part in extracurricular activities, including social events, sports, clubs, and student organizations.
- Staying updated on developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methodologies, and adjusting instructional plans as needed.
- Assuming certain pastoral responsibilities, such as providing support and counseling for students facing academic difficulties and offering encouragement.
- Engaging in departmental and school-wide meetings as well as parent discussions.
- Interacting thoughtfully with staff, students, parents, and the public.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Education Degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent degree in a relevant area is preferred.
- Familiarity with Ontario's credited Business courses is essential.
- Teaching additional subjects is a plus but not a requirement.
- Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an asset but not mandatory.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Knowledge of school policies, compliance regulations, and relevant legislation is necessary.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High energy level and patience, with a sincere dedication to promoting student learning.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills.
- Ability to perform necessary physical tasks.
- Capacity to recognize diverse learning styles and individual student needs.
- High level of confidentiality awareness and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development.
Work Conditions:
This position entails interactions with students, teachers, administration, families, visitors, and government representatives under various circumstances. Manual dexterity is needed.
