About This Role
ART TEACHER (SECONDARY SECTION)
Rainbow International School is a coeducational day and boarding institution serving students aged 2 to 18 in Kampala, Uganda. Recognized as one of the largest and most esteemed international schools in the country, we deliver the EYFS and IPC curricula in our Primary section, the English National curriculum at Key Stage 3, and the Cambridge IGCSE and Advanced Level programs in Key Stages 4 and 5. We also offer BTEC Level 3 courses as an alternative pathway to university education.
The Role:
We are seeking a talented and qualified individual to become a part of our team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact within a vibrant Art department, with responsibilities including teaching Art up to A Level. Familiarity with the BTEC Art program would be a plus.
Experience:
• Candidates must be a qualified Art Teacher with extensive knowledge of Secondary Art aligned with the English National Curriculum.
• A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required after completing a teaching degree/PGCE/PGDE/QTS, either in the UK or at a British curriculum school abroad.
• The ability to teach Art from KS3 to A Level is essential.
• A willingness to teach additional subjects outside of your primary specialty is expected.
• Openness to teaching in different sections of the school as opportunities arise is appreciated.
• Proficiency in ceramics and/or textiles would be highly advantageous.
• Preference will be given to those with prior experience in an international school environment.
• Strong ICT skills to enhance the learning experience in the classroom are necessary.
• The ability to engage, motivate, and support students, colleagues, and parents is crucial.
• Familiarity with Google Apps is required.
• Experience in participating in various after-school extracurricular activities is essential.
• Professionalism in conduct and appearance, along with a strong commitment to the school community (including participation in school events), is expected.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor of Education in Art
● Or a Bachelor’s degree with a Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Education (PGDE/PGCE) in Art
