This opportunity is available either on a part-time (.5fte) or full-time (1fte) basis alongside teaching responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to student support and wellbeing, align with the school's vision, and be equipped to inspire, motivate, and empower students as they explore their post-secondary options.
What will your daily responsibilities include?
The chosen applicant will:
• Offer tailored academic and career counselling to senior students, aiding them in discovering pathways that align with their strengths, interests, and goals.
• Assist students and their families throughout the university application process, including research, writing personal statements, crafting essays, and navigating decision-making across various global systems (such as those in the Netherlands, UK, USA, Canada, and Europe).
• Promote student wellbeing by providing holistic guidance and collaborating with pastoral and academic teams to ensure comprehensive support.
• Organise and facilitate university fairs, career days, workshops, and information sessions, while also coordinating visits from university representatives and guest speakers.
• Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with universities, career organizations, and external partners to expand student opportunities.
• Keep detailed and confidential records of counselling sessions, student progress, and university outcomes, utilizing this data to enhance programme development.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure clear understanding of post-secondary planning, requirements, and timelines.
• Work alongside leadership and teaching staff to integrate academic pathways with future planning and support whole-school initiatives.
• Remain informed about global trends in higher education, admissions processes, and career development.
• Adhere to the highest standards of ethical practice, confidentiality, and safeguarding in all aspects of the role.
What qualifications and experience will you bring?
The perfect candidate will possess:
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline, along with a recognized teaching or counselling qualification.
• Experience in an international or IB school setting, with a thorough understanding of global university application processes.
• A minimum of three years of experience in academic or career counselling.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• High levels of organization, professionalism, and the capability to manage a substantial caseload effectively.
• A strong dedication to student wellbeing, inclusion, and personalized guidance.
• Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with counselling platforms (e.g., MaiaLearning, Unifrog, Cialfo) is preferred.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with best practices in counselling and higher education.
• The ability to inspire confidence, independence, and informed decision-making among students.
• Teaching experience in History, Geography, or INS would be advantageous.
