About This Role
We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative leader to become part of our Secondary Leadership Team as the Head of Middle School (Years 7ā9). Reporting directly to the Head of Secondary School, the ideal candidate will oversee the leadership of our Key Stage 3 program and its students. This role involves setting high standards for learning while ensuring that our curriculum serves as a robust foundation for advancement into Key Stages 4 and 5. The successful applicant will collaborate with teachers and teams to foster a culture that is supportive, engaging, and aspirational.

Key Responsibilities

Direct the strategic and daily development of Years 7ā9
ā¢
Act as a member of the Secondary Leadership Team, guiding academic and pastoral teams, and supporting students from Years 7ā13
ā¢
Collaborate closely with our Head of Pastoral to establish strong and consistent student behavior and wellbeing systems
ā¢
Partner with our Assistant Heads (Teaching & Learning) to promote high-quality teaching and learning and to cultivate an ambitious, well-rounded, and engaging Key Stage 3 curriculum
ā¢
Assist the school in preparing for accreditation visits and ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements
ā¢
Approach complex or sensitive student and family cases with professionalism and care
ā¢
Monitor student progress, behavior, and engagement, implementing effective interventions as necessary
ā¢
Encourage staff development while setting elevated expectations for teaching and learning
ā¢
Aid the Head of Secondary in the recruitment and onboarding of teachers
ā¢
Ensure the smooth functioning of the Middle School, including the coordination of key events, communication, and daily operations
ā¢
Facilitate student transitions from Primary School to Year 7 and into Key Stage 4
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
ā¢
Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
ā¢
Extensive teaching experience in Key Stage 3 within a Secondary School setting
ā¢
Demonstrated leadership experience with a positive impact on student outcomes
ā¢
Strong understanding of both academic and pastoral frameworks
ā¢
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational abilities
