About This Role

Role Overview
The Secondary English Curriculum Coordinator will spearhead the development of curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment within the Secondary English program. Collaborating closely with Department Heads, subject educators, and senior leadership, the coordinator will ensure a seamless progression, uphold high teaching and learning standards, and achieve exceptional student outcomes. The individual in this role will advocate for scientific literacy, inquiry, and practical skills while fostering professional growth and teamwork throughout the faculty.

Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Leadership: Spearhead the design, evaluation, and application of the Secondary English curriculum to guarantee compliance with Cambridge International and Vietnamese standards, ensuring a smooth transition between key stages.


Teaching & Learning: Encourage outstanding teaching practices and inquiry-driven learning while incorporating hands-on experiences within English. This role includes a teaching commitment of up to 50% of the standard workload (approximately 12 hours weekly).


Assessment & Reporting: Establish and sustain effective assessment frameworks, moderation techniques, and reporting protocols to track student progress and enhance teaching strategies.


Staff Development: Organize and deliver focused professional development, mentoring, and coaching sessions for English educators aimed at elevating standards and disseminating effective practices.


Resource Management: Manage the acquisition of educational resources and English materials; provide guidance on budgetary requirements.


Quality Assurance: Conduct regular reviews of the curriculum, lesson observations, and data evaluations to promote ongoing improvement within the faculty.


Cross-Curricular Collaboration: Partner with colleagues in English, Design & Technology, and ICT to create interdisciplinary projects and advance initiatives.


Student Enrichment: Oversee extracurricular Mathematics activities, competitions, and enrichment programs designed to spark curiosity, engagement, and student leadership in science.


Safeguarding & Safety: Ensure that all practical activities align with health and safety regulations and that safeguarding policies are maintained according to school standards.


Stakeholder Engagement: Articulate the curriculum’s objectives and student progress to parents, connect with external partners, and contribute to overarching academic goals within the school.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Curriculum Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Secondary English curricula (Cambridge IGCSE/IGSE, A-Level).


Teaching Experience: A proven history of effective classroom instruction across secondary grades, including experience in preparing students for external assessments.


Leadership & Collaboration: Background in leading curriculum initiatives, mentoring peers, and collaborating effectively within a multicultural educational environment.


Assessment & Data Use: Proficient in utilizing assessment data to identify learning needs, inform planning, and improve student achievement.


Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English proficiency, with the ability to engage students, parents, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.


Innovative Mindset: A reflective educator who embraces evidence-based methods, technology-enhanced learning, and ongoing professional development.

Essential Criteria

At least a Bachelor of Education and/or qualified teacher status (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or international equivalent) along with a strong honors degree in English.


Experience with iGCSE FLE (or GCSE English if from the UK) and A-Level Literature is mandatory. Applicants should clearly indicate this in their CV and be prepared for discussion during the interview.


Extensive secondary teaching experience with a proven impact on student outcomes.


Demonstrated experience in curriculum leadership, assessment design, and professional development for colleagues.


Eligibility to work in Vietnam by the July 2026 start date, or readiness to navigate the necessary visa and relocation processes with support from VAS.

Compensation

$3,300 - $4,600 per month (Range given includes Base Salary plus Housing Allowance, payable in Vietnam Dong (VND) monthly. The amounts indicated are net of tax.)
