Job Overview
We are eager to connect with an enthusiastic and inspiring Dutch Language Teacher who has a strong background in both Language & Literature and Language Acquisition.
The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for language education, a dedication to promoting intercultural understanding, and the ability to motivate students to communicate confidently in Dutch.
You will teach across the IGCSE, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), guiding learners from beginners who are acquiring Dutch as a second language to advanced students critically engaging with literary texts. Additionally, there may be chances to assist with learning in other areas of the school when appropriate.
What will your daily responsibilities include?
The successful applicant will:
•
Design and implement engaging Dutch language lessons aimed at enhancing students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities.
•
Instruct across both Language Acquisition and Language & Literature pathways, catering to a diverse range of proficiency levels.
•
Tailor instruction to accommodate multilingual learners and those with varied learning profiles.
•
Encourage confidence, creativity, and authentic usage of Dutch both inside and outside the classroom.
•
Cultivate students’ appreciation for Dutch culture, literature, and identity within a global context.
•
Create and contribute to an inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum aligned with IB and IGCSE standards.
•
Employ various formative and summative assessment methods to track student progress and shape teaching approaches.
•
Provide constructive and clear feedback to encourage student development and reflection.
•
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency and progression throughout the language program.
•
Incorporate digital tools, authentic materials, and interdisciplinary methods into language learning.
•
Participate in enrichment activities such as language clubs, cultural events, and competitions.
•
Support school-wide initiatives that foster international-mindedness and intercultural understanding.
•
Establish a secure, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and engagement.
What qualifications and experience should you possess?
The perfect candidate will have:
•
Experience teaching Dutch language and/or literature at primary and/or secondary educational levels.
•
Experience in teaching Dutch as both a first and additional language.
•
Familiarity with IB programs (PYP, MYP, DP) and/or IGCSE is highly desirable.
•
A bachelor’s degree in Education, Dutch Language and Literature, Linguistics, or a related discipline, accompanied by a recognized teaching qualification.
•
Proficiency in both Dutch and English (oral and written).
•
A solid understanding of language acquisition methodologies and literacy development strategies.
•
Experience in differentiating instruction to assist diverse and multilingual learners.
•
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
•
The capacity to inspire students and nurture a passion for language and literature.
•
A collaborative spirit and a commitment to being an integral part of the broader school community.
•
Creativity, cultural sensitivity, and a zeal for intercultural education.
