Job Title: MYP Individual & Societies (I&S) Teacher

Reports to: Head of Individuals & Societies

Location: Westlink International School, Hanoi

Position Type: Full-time

Position Overview

Westlink International School in Hanoi is in search of a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-focused IB Individuals & Societies (I&S) Teacher to become part of our Secondary team. As a full International Baccalaureate continuum institution authorized through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and currently a candidate for the Diploma Programme (DP), we invite a teacher who can enhance our secondary humanities curriculum.

The ideal candidate will provide exceptional instruction within the IB framework, primarily focusing on the MYP and, as we expand into the Diploma Programme, the DP. The teacher will encourage conceptual understanding, inquiry, and critical thinking while developing a stimulating and inclusive classroom atmosphere that enables all students to thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Planning and Delivery

· Develop, prepare, and present engaging and rigorous Individuals & Societies lessons aligned with IB MYP and DP standards.

· Teach across the secondary continuum, covering MYP and future DP subjects as necessary (e.g., Individuals & Societies areas such as Geography, History, Economics, or related fields in the humanities).

· Create inquiry-based, concept-driven learning opportunities that link social sciences and humanities to real-world situations and global challenges.

· Differentiate instruction to accommodate the varied needs, abilities, and language profiles of students.

· Integrate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and encourage global contexts within lessons.

Assessment and Feedback

· Design and execute formative and summative assessments that align with IB criteria and standards.

· Utilize assessment data to guide planning and enhance student progress.

· Offer timely, specific, and constructive feedback to encourage reflection and growth.

· Keep accurate records of student achievement and participate in reporting processes.

Classroom Culture and Student Wellbeing

· Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that fosters student voice, agency, and participation.

· Set clear expectations for behavior and learning.

· Promote student wellbeing and adhere to safeguarding practices at all times.

Collaboration and Professional Practice

· Work collaboratively with colleagues to design interdisciplinary units and share best practices throughout the department and school.

· Contribute to the ongoing development of the Individuals & Societies curriculum and support the school’s DP candidacy.

· Engage in reflective practice and pursue continuous professional development, including IB training.

· Actively participate in department, team, and school-wide initiatives.

Communication and Community Engagement

· Maintain open and effective communication with students, families, and colleagues.

· Contribute positively to the broader school community through events, activities, and extracurricular programs.

· Build strong partnerships within the school community.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential


· Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Geography, History, or a related area.

· Recognized teaching qualification/certification.

· Experience teaching secondary Individuals & Societies or humanities courses.

· Strong understanding of IB philosophy and inquiry-driven pedagogy.

· Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities.

· Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices.

Desirable


· Experience teaching within the IB MYP and/or DP.

· Experience in teaching Diploma-level subjects such as History, Geography, Economics, Global Politics, or Environmental Systems and Societies.

· Prior experience in an international school setting.

· Master’s degree in Education or a relevant field.

· Effective use of technology to enhance the learning experience.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
