About This Role
Job Overview: Established in 2015, Anne Hill International provides international education for children aged 2-13 and is preparing to launch its secondary school campus soon. Our mission is to deliver affordable, high-quality international education, while our vision focuses on developing well-rounded, globally aware, lifelong learners.
Currently, our school serves around 350 students from 30 different nations and is supported by a committed team of 30 educators from various backgrounds.
The secondary school campus is slated to open in August 2026, introducing a new curriculum centered on the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge Lower Secondary, ultimately leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). Our institution is proud to be a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
Role Responsibilities
We are seeking a Teacher of Drama for Year 7 to Year 9, who possesses the professional ability to initiate and develop programs within our growing curriculum. The curriculum will be based on a modified IMYC program, and the ideal candidate will play a vital role in the design and implementation of this new educational offering.
Furthermore, experience in teaching English as a Second Language or a humanities/social studies subject would be advantageous.
All educators are expected to engage actively in the pastoral/homeroom curriculum and participate in after-school activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Subject Teachers are accountable for the academic growth and pastoral care of their students, adhering to the school's Guiding Statements, curriculum, and policies.
1. Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
- Create an encouraging, safe, and dynamic classroom environment that fosters student engagement and confidence while promoting risk-taking in learning.
- Develop lesson plans with clear objectives that stimulate active participation, independence, collaboration, and cross-curricular connections.
- Maintain consistent high standards through strong relationships and inclusive practices.
2. Foster continuous progress and outcomes for all students.
- Cultivate an understanding of students’ needs to tailor learning experiences, utilizing curriculum sequencing and prior knowledge to enhance progress.
- Encourage student reflection, responsibility, and a conscientious approach to independent study.
3. Exhibit excellent subject and curriculum knowledge.
- Create learning experiences that reinforce understanding, spark interest, and challenge students.
- Commit to continuous professional development, applying new insights to classroom practices with a focus on literacy, numeracy, and the importance of scholarship.
4. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
- Design and conduct purposeful lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating clear objectives, constructive feedback, and evidence-based strategies for promoting progress.
- Foster positive classroom relationships and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive, student-centered approach to learning and wellbeing.
5. Adapt teaching to meet the strengths and needs of students.
- Work with students to establish clear, purposeful goals and modify lessons to suit individual requirements through various strategies, including differentiation, questioning, active learning, and technology.
- Utilize assessment, feedback, and reflection to inform teaching, support progress, and create an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and challenged.
6. Make effective use of assessment.
- Systematically evaluate student learning using diverse methods, providing clear feedback that encourages improvement.
- Consistently leverage assessment data to inform teaching practices, guide planning, and ensure all students achieve their potential.
7. Ensure quality of provision.
- Communicate effectively with parents, offering clear feedback and guidance.
- Prepare and utilize resources that meet student needs while involving support staff in planning and instruction.
- Manage time efficiently and conduct academic reporting responsibly through updates, reports, and parent meetings to provide an accurate overview of student progress.
Qualifications and Experience
- A University/College degree, ideally in the subject area being taught.
- PGCE or equivalent qualifications.
- Three years of relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
- A proven history of supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with additional needs (e.g., English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
