Role purpose:
We seek a highly talented, innovative, and experienced educator to deliver the HAIS Art/Design curriculum and contribute to the school’s vibrant lineup of concerts, productions, inter-house drama events, and annual celebrations. This role involves providing classroom instruction and education principles aligned with the Cambridge Education curriculum, ensuring effective lesson preparation, presentation, management of classroom activities, and related assessments. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in teaching Art/Design across both Primary and Secondary sectors.

Key Accountabilities:
● Collaborate with colleagues to produce high-quality lessons and learning schemes.
● Design engaging and interactive learning experiences tailored to student needs.
● Deliver instructional content aligned with the relevant curriculum and subject materials.
● Support students according to their individual needs, differentiating instruction for varying abilities.
● Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with students to enhance learning outcomes.
● Share teaching practices with fellow educators and participate in a professional learning community focused on enhancing the quality of learning throughout the school.
● Maintain high expectations, believing all students can exceed their current capabilities.
● Prepare the classroom by organizing and setting up necessary learning equipment.
● Manage inventory and procure learning supplies as needed.
● Assign and evaluate student projects, assignments, and examinations.
● Track and report on student progress.
● Promote student involvement in maintaining classroom cleanliness.
● Attend faculty and other school meetings as required.
● Assist students during school hours and in after-school extracurricular activities.
● Provide additional educational support programs as necessary.
● Contribute actively to the HAIS monthly magazine, HAISLife.
● Engage in ongoing personal and professional development.
● Fulfill responsibilities assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.
● Embody the values of Hoi An International School.

Pastoral / Student Well-being:
● Communicate with parents regarding academic and pastoral issues, including follow-ups on student reports, parent-teacher meetings, and school calendar events.
● Support the school’s pastoral systems aimed at enhancing student well-being.
● Develop and implement sector-specific and school-wide pastoral programs and initiatives.
● Serve as a point of contact for students, providing pastoral care as needed.
● Create and deliver teaching methods that effectively address students' personal, social, and academic needs.
● Ensure an inclusive environment within both the classroom and the wider school community.
● Foster positive relationships and a supportive attitude towards all students and staff throughout the school.
● Be aware of how your pastoral care practices affect students, the school, colleagues, and the broader community.

Essential criteria:
● A minimum of a university degree accompanied by a recognized teaching qualification.
● At least three (3) years of recent classroom teaching experience.
● A genuine passion for teaching art and sharing that enthusiasm with students and colleagues.
● Proven experience in teaching at both primary and secondary levels.
● Familiarity with the Cambridge Education framework.
● Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
● Ability to foster trust among students, parents, and fellow educators.
● A willingness to engage in the school’s extracurricular activities.

Desirable

● Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design.
● Background in an international school setting.
● Experience managing Performing Arts events is a plus.
● Recent experience in academic and pastoral leadership.
● Knowledge of EAL teaching methodologies.

Employment requirements:
For candidates engaging internationally, it is mandatory to provide legalized and authenticated copies of identification, qualifications, experience, and probity documents as required by HAIS and local/national government entities. Successful candidates must also fulfill probity requirements, which include providing appropriate reference checks, undergoing national and local police checks, and complying with applicable Work with Children Checks.

Compensation

$2,300 - $2,700 per month
