BTEC Coordinator/Business Studies Teacher
About This Role
Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, evaluation, and quality assurance of BTEC programs across the institution. Your role will ensure compliance with both internal and external standards, monitor student progress, and adhere to the regulations established by the awarding body.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Coordination
• Oversee the planning and delivery of BTEC qualifications within relevant departments.
• Ensure that BTEC programs align with the policies and procedures of Pearson or the appropriate awarding body.
• Work collaboratively with subject leaders and educators to support the successful delivery of BTEC units.
2. Quality Assurance
• Direct the Internal Verification (IV) process to confirm that assessment decisions are valid, reliable, and consistent.
• Ensure that assessment and internal verification documents are completed accurately and on time.
• Liaise with the External Verifier (EV) and manage the sample verification process.
• Stay updated on BTEC standards and communicate relevant information to staff.
3. Administration
• Maintain clear records of student achievements and progress.
• Handle registrations and certification claims via Edexcel Online or other relevant systems.
• Accurately track student progress and prepare reports for senior management.
4. Staff Support and Training
• Provide training and support for staff involved in delivering BTEC qualifications, including new or less experienced educators.
• Organize regular standardization meetings to ensure consistency in assessment and internal verification practices.
5. Student Support
• Aid students in understanding the expectations and requirements associated with BTEC qualifications.
• Monitor student performance and implement interventions as necessary.
6. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure the center is prepared for inspections and remains compliant during audits and reviews.
• Address any recommendations from external verifiers or awarding bodies promptly.

• Deliver high-quality instruction tailored to meet diverse levels and abilities.
• Maintain teaching standards that align with the school's mission, vision, and values.
• Take responsibility for the learning, progress, achievement, and development of all students, adapting teaching methods to meet their needs.
• Ensure all students have equitable access to an exceptional education in Business studies.
• Participate in various school activities related to the Business department, such as the Business simulation competition.
• Engage in school duties, evening self-study, co-curricular activities, and individual tutorials as required.
• Follow established policies from the school and exam boards.
• Adhere to school guidelines regarding reporting, marking, and assessment.
• Be an active team member, offering support and collaboration as needed, attending departmental meetings, and sharing best practices.
• Show a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, striving to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge continuously.
Operational Planning
• Support the Curriculum Area and Department in developing relevant syllabuses, resources, work plans, marking criteria, and teaching strategies.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of the department's and curriculum area's development plan.
• Organize and prepare classes and instructional sessions, contributing to the overall planning efforts of the school.
Skills/Qualifications
• Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with a master's degree or higher, particularly from overseas institutions.
• Candidates must hold a professional teaching certification, such as a PGCE or subject-specific teaching license.
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in international schools, specifically in the relevant subject area, is required. This experience should align with the curriculums mentioned.
• Proficiency in English is essential, as it will be the primary language of instruction and communication. A strong understanding of the importance of fostering technical literacy among Chinese students learning the subject in English is necessary.
• Strong academic English writing skills are crucial, as assessments primarily involve writing based on case studies instead of multiple-choice questions. The ability to effectively teach advanced English writing skills is essential.
