Role purpose:
The role involves delivering classroom instruction and educational practices that align with the Cambridge Education curriculum, ensuring the enhancement of student learning through effective lesson planning, presentation, classroom management, and assessments.

Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop high-quality lesson plans and learning frameworks.
- Create interactive and engaging lessons that encourage student participation.
- Provide instructional support that aligns with the relevant curriculum and subject area resources.
- Adapt support for students according to their individual needs, catering to various abilities.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with students within your classes and throughout the school to nurture a profound learning environment.
- Share teaching methodologies with peers and actively participate in a professional learning community to improve overall educational quality across the institution.
- Maintain high expectations, believing that all students can surpass their current potential.
- Prepare the classroom by organizing and setting up necessary learning resources.
- Monitor and manage inventory, procuring learning materials as necessary.
- Assign and assess student projects, assignments, and tests.
- Document and communicate student progress.
- Encourage and ensure student participation in keeping the classroom tidy.
- Perform duties in accordance with the Cambridge Teaching Standards.
- Attend faculty meetings and other mandatory school gatherings.
- Assist students during school hours and engage in extracurricular activities after school.
- Provide educational support programs for students as necessary during and after school hours.
- Contribute to the HAIS monthly publication, HAISLife.
- Actively pursue personal and professional development.
- Undertake responsibilities assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.
- Exemplify the values of Hoi An International School.

Pastoral / Student Well-being:
- Communicate with parents regarding academic and pastoral matters, including following up on student reports, attending parent-teacher conferences, and supporting school events.
- Assist the school’s pastoral systems designed to improve student well-being.
- Develop and implement sector-specific and school-wide pastoral programs and initiatives.
- Act as a point of contact for students, providing pastoral care to those in your charge and within the school.
- Design and utilize teaching methods that effectively address the personal, social, and academic needs of students.
- Ensure an inclusive environment for all students in the classroom and across the school.
- Foster positive relationships and attitudes towards all students and staff within the school community.
- Be mindful of your pastoral care practices and their impact on students, the school community, peers, and the broader community.

Essential criteria:
- A minimum of a university degree along with a recognized teaching qualification.
- At least three (3) years of recent teaching experience in the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience in primary education.
- Proven familiarity with the Cambridge Education curriculum.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to cultivate a high level of trust among students, parents, and fellow educators.
- Willingness to actively participate in extracurricular activities at the school.

Desirable:
- Experience working in an international school environment.
- Recent involvement in academic and pastoral leadership.
- Knowledge of teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Employment requirements:
International candidates must provide legalized and authenticated copies of identification, qualifications, experience, and probity documents as required by HAIS and relevant government agencies. The selected candidate must meet probity standards, including providing appropriate reference checks, and national and local police verifications, as well as any applicable Work with Children Checks.
