The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council Education Authority (KTCEA) oversees five schools and an outreach program within four First Nation communities in Northern Alberta. Founded through the vision of KTC leadership and Elders, KTCEA is dedicated to offering a high-quality, secure, and effective educational experience designed by Cree people for the benefit of Cree students. Our programs and services reflect the unique Cree Language and Identity of the KTC Nations. Our varied team provides education to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Job Description

Working under the supervision of the School Principal, the chosen candidate will be tasked with planning and delivering classroom instruction that meets the standards established by Alberta Education and KTCEA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited institution, with prior teaching experience being advantageous
  • Current Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Fluency in Cree is a plus
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, organizations, and communities
  • Capability to fulfill Alberta Education’s Teacher Quality Standard
  • Familiarity with the curriculum to be taught
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a land-based education environment is beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant applications essential for the role

Conditions of Employment

Candidates are required to present an RCMP/Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (formerly Child Welfare Check, CWIS) prior to commencing employment.
