Secondary Teacher
About This Role
At Sapling Green, we don’t believe in "one size fits all" education. Nestled within a thriving Christmas tree farm and active smallholding, our school provides a sanctuary for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who require a different rhythm to their learning.
We are looking for a Secondary Lead Teacher who is as comfortable navigating the curriculum as they are navigating a muddy field. This is a rare opportunity to lead a curriculum that grows alongside our students—combining rigorous academic achievement with life-changing vocational experiences.
The Role
Leading the Canopy.
As our Lead Teacher, you will be the architect of our secondary provision. You won't just sit in an office; you will be the heartbeat of the classroom and the farm, ensuring our students transition into adulthood with the qualifications and confidence they deserve.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Mastery: Oversee a diverse academic "portfolio" including AQA GCSEs, BTECs (Land-Based & Animal Care), and specialist SEN-based qualifications.
- Strategic Leadership: Mentor and manage a dedicated team, fostering a culture of high expectations and therapeutic support.
- The "Farm-to-Fork" Vision: Work with our farm manager to weave the life of the Christmas tree farm and smallholding into daily lessons—maths in the forest, biology in the barn.
About You: Are You Our Perfect Fit?
We aren't looking for a traditional "four-walls" teacher. We need a pioneer.
- The Specialist: You hold QTS and have a proven track record in SEN (ASC, SEMH, or MLD).
- The Leader: You have experience in middle or senior leadership and know how to get the best out of a multi-disciplinary team.
- The Academic: You are well-versed in AQA and BTEC frameworks and understand how to adapt them for neurodivergent learners.
- The Outdoorsman/woman: You understand that a rainy Tuesday on a farm is a learning opportunity, not an inconvenience. You are not afraid to wear wellies to a staff meeting.
Why Join the Sapling Green Team?
- A Unique "Office": Trade the fluorescent lights for the scent of pine and the fresh air of the smallholding.
- Bespoke Package: A salary that recognises your specific leadership experience and the unique nature of this role.
- Autonomy: The freedom to innovate. If you have an idea for a new vocational pathway or a farm-based project, we’ll give you the soil to plant it in.
- Small Class Sizes: The ability to actually teach and build deep, meaningful connections with your students.
