The Falkland Islands Community School is a comprehensive institution offering secondary education to approximately 230 students aged 11-16 in the Falkland Islands. Our mission is to support students in achieving their potential, enabling them to graduate as happy, curious, and well-rounded individuals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications necessary for their future endeavors. We are looking to hire an enthusiastic, creative, and driven Curriculum Leader for Maths.
This position is available for an August/September start. The successful candidate will become part of a well-resourced school that boasts a supportive staff team, small class sizes, and eager learners. The Maths department is well-equipped, and you will lead a curriculum team to ensure that all students have the opportunities to reach their maximum potential.
The school's performance is steadily improving, with a strong emphasis on staff development that includes continuous professional development focused on teaching and learning. We have established clear rationales for the curriculum and reporting. The KS3 curriculum is continually reviewed and enhanced, and we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute positively to this initiative. Notably, the school has received a positive Progress 8 score for the past three years.
We are in search of a Curriculum Leader for Maths who:
- Is a graduate teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (recognized in the UK), has completed their Early Career Framework induction, and possesses three or more years of successful post-ECF experience teaching Maths at a good or better level, including GCSE.
- Is dedicated to teaching and learning, helping students achieve significant progress in a positive and effective learning environment.
- Can collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Primary section to facilitate a smooth transition for students.
- Is capable of managing resources efficiently and supporting staff to ensure that students receive necessary assistance.
- Can contribute to the development of PSHE, pastoral life, and extracurricular opportunities.
The Package:

- A salary of up to £45,244 for teachers with over 5 years of experience, plus a TLR for curriculum leadership currently valued at £3198.
- Eligibility for a 25% gratuity upon satisfactory contract completion for contracts ranging from 2 to 4 years.
