Head of Hockey
About This Role
We are seeking an exceptional Head of Hockey to lead and inspire our Hillcrest Hockey Club. This full-time role offers a thrilling opportunity to create and execute a comprehensive and ambitious program that nurtures players from enthusiastic beginners to elite competitors, spanning ages from primary school through Under 21s.
The preferred candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the hockey environment in Kenya, including the dynamics of schools, clubs, and national levels, along with experience in high-performance contexts and excellent administrative and communication skills. A qualification of EH Level 3 or FIH Level 3 (or higher) coaching certification is also essential.
The Head of Hockey will report to the Chief Excellence and Innovation Officer and will be responsible for the overall management of the Hillcrest Hockey Club Program, which includes:
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Overseeing daily operations of the sport, including planning, coaching, and competition management.
- Team Management: Motivating and guiding a team of coaches and interns to foster a supportive, safe, and high-performance environment.
- Pathway Development: Building strong relationships with external clubs and the National Governing Body.
- Future Transition: Establishing collaborations, such as with universities, to maintain Hillcrest’s performance pathways and support athletes in their sporting endeavors after school.
