About This Role

Charterhouse Malaysia launched in 2021 as an exciting new contender in the competitive realm of international education in Kuala Lumpur. Initially established as a Sixth Form college, it has transformed into an institution catering to students in Years 9–13, with a strong focus on preparing students for their futures. With a designed capacity for 450 students, the school is dedicated to maintaining small class sizes and providing personalized care and mentoring.

As part of the rapidly growing Charterhouse Family of Schools, Charterhouse Malaysia benefits from over 400 years of educational excellence from its UK counterpart while adapting to the unique context of Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Following the retirement of Deputy Head, Tom Robinson, Charterhouse Asia is actively seeking a distinguished school leader to build upon the foundation established in this academically thriving and inspiring school and to guide it through its next phase of development.

In its first four years, Charterhouse Malaysia has experienced steady growth and has cultivated its unique Future Ready approach. Its inaugural graduating class in 2024 successfully gained admission to top universities in the UK and US. In response to rising enrollment from international students, the school has recently introduced boarding facilities and is set to roll out additional IGCSE and A-Level courses tailored to meet this demand in 2025.

The new Deputy Head will face the task of supporting the school’s expansion to its full capacity, ensuring that the innovative Future Ready curriculum continues to equip students for a rapidly changing world, while also upholding Charterhouse’s commitment to holistic education and core values such as perseverance, responsibility, moral courage, open-mindedness, and kindness. The groundwork is already laid, and the school aims to solidify its reputation as one of the most esteemed and distinctive institutions in Kuala Lumpur.

The Deputy Headteacher will spearhead both academic and pastoral initiatives, playing a crucial role in the school’s mission to provide a comprehensive education that prepares students for a fast-evolving future. The Deputy Head is expected to foster an inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous environment that aligns with the school’s values and dedication to student well-being. Charterhouse Malaysia is ambitious in its goal of producing graduates who not only excel academically but are also exceptionally prepared for life; this is an opportunity to make a significant impact in leading a school that is innovative and forward-thinking.

This role is vital in achieving Charterhouse Malaysia’s aspirations and enhancing its well-earned reputation as a leading academic institution in the region. Candidates should possess a strong track record of success in secondary school leadership within a British curriculum setting. It is anticipated that the next Deputy Head will have aspirations for Headship, potentially finding such opportunities in future Charterhouse Asia schools if successful in this role.

The position is set to commence in August 2025.
