The British College of Andorra, nestled in the breathtaking Pyrenees mountains, is thrilled to announce an opening for a Teacher of PE with the capability to instruct in Sports, Health, and Exercise Science at the IB level as our school expands.
We seek an inspiring educator who is committed to ensuring that every child has access to and can thrive in physical education. Their teaching philosophy will be rooted in an inquiry-based approach that merges theory with practice. A deep understanding of the distinction between performance and learning, along with a well-rounded and knowledgeable perspective on assessment and feedback, is essential. The ideal candidate will effectively incorporate technology into their teaching methods and adopt an inclusive mindset towards the PE curriculum, which currently includes units like dance and orienteering in addition to traditional offerings. As the lead Secondary PE teacher, they will infuse the role with enthusiasm and a clear vision.

- Qualified Teacher Status - essential
- Relevant Master’s degree - essential
- Strong outreach skills to foster connections between schools for PE and sports collaboration - essential
- Specialism and the capability to teach Sports, Health, and Exercise Science (IB Diploma) to a pre-university level - essential
- Experience teaching students for whom English is an additional language - desirable
- Proficiency in Spanish or a readiness to learn quickly - desirable
- A willingness to engage in the school’s extracurricular activities (e.g., outdoor pursuits, Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports, MUN) - desirable
This role involves teaching PE to students aged 11 to 18 years (Years 7-13/Grades 6-12), following the English National Curriculum and subsequently the IB SHES course.
This position provides a rare chance to reside in a stunning natural setting, with outdoor activities like skiing, cycling, trail running, climbing, and mountain walking available right outside your door, along with the benefit of low tax rates. The school, which presently serves 300 students and is poised for significant growth in the coming years, is located just outside Andorra la Vella in a picturesque mountainside area. We are conveniently located three hours by road (with excellent transport links) from both Barcelona and Toulouse.
