The Role
As the Assistant Head (Academics), you will provide both strategic and operational leadership regarding academic standards throughout the Senior School, ensuring that teaching practices, systems, and outcomes align with the school's aspirations for excellence. Collaborating closely with the Head of Senior School, the successful applicant will spearhead the creation of effective systems for tracking progress, analyzing data, and setting targets, fostering an environment where every student is encouraged and supported to perform at their best.
This position is suited for a leader who prioritizes precision, clarity, and academic rigor, and who is dedicated to ensuring that exemplary outcomes stem from meticulous planning, expert instruction, and thorough evaluation.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading the development and execution of top-tier assessment, tracking, and reporting systems
•
Instilling a culture of high expectations and evidence-based teaching strategies throughout the Senior School
•
Advising colleagues on optimal teaching practices to consistently achieve strong results
•
Managing key academic departments, providing support and challenge to middle leaders with clear intent
•
Contributing to the advancement of the curriculum, ensuring coherence, ambition, and progression
•
Assisting in the formulation of the school timetable (experience preferred)

•
Adopt a student-focused approach while maintaining academic integrity
•
Exhibit excellent organizational and strategic planning abilities
•
Preferably be qualified to teach Mathematics or Science (desirable, but not essential)
•
Have middle leadership experience, with senior leadership experience being a significant advantage
•
Show potential for future senior leadership roles, including Head of Senior School
A Master’s degree and leadership qualifications such as NPQSL or NPQH are beneficial.
