IBDP English Teacher
About This Role
ISN is looking for a Secondary IBDP English Teacher with experience in MYP and IGCSE, who can deliver outstanding instruction and vibrant learning experiences for both Middle and High School students. This role aligns with ISN’s vision and mission and includes support for Globeducate events when relevant. The English department focuses on conceptual learning through both literary and non-literary texts, utilizing a dynamic, internationally designed MYP, IGCSE, and IBDP curriculum.
Every educator at ISN is expected to develop and implement the curriculum to the highest standards.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the English Department and the EAL department. Our team operates in a cooperative and supportive atmosphere founded on mutual respect and understanding. We aim to provide a dynamic program across all levels while sharing best practices in an open and empathetic setting.
Teaching responsibilities include:
● Designing and preparing learning activities that help students achieve curriculum objectives
● Employing and enhancing a variety of instructional methods, including inquiry-based, project-based, and problem-based learning, tailored to available resources and students’ needs
● Encouraging students to use both individual and collaborative strategies to develop concepts and ideas
● Integrating new technologies and tools into the creative process
● Continuously assessing each student's performance
● Preparing student evaluation reports
● Maintaining required standards for classroom management and student behavior
● Collaborating within the English department
● Supporting interdisciplinary projects collaboratively
● Creating a conducive learning environment
Responsibilities related to student safety and support include:
● Partnering with the Director of Inclusion to ensure teachers understand students' specific learning needs
● Ensuring inclusive assessment arrangements for eligible students
● Conducting all activities with a focus on health, safety, and safeguarding, in line with the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
Education and Experience required:
● Bachelor’s degree in English
● Valid teaching certificate/licensure
● Teaching experience in one or more of the following curricula: MYP, IBDP/A Level/Advanced Placement, or equivalent IBDP English A + B level
● Strong classroom management skills
● Understanding of teaching approaches that involve meaningful feedback, student reflection, and ATL skills.
