• London – Saturday and Sunday, 28 February–1 March 2026

Position Profile
• Previous teaching experience in the UK is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in AS/AL/IGCSE in the relevant field.
• Ability to teach high-achieving students.
• A degree in the subject area intended for teaching.
• A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
Specific Responsibilities of Teaching Position
• Create and execute lessons that align with the Scheme of Work, incorporating a variety of learning activities.
• Develop and implement assessments in line with departmental guidelines, generating reports that meet required standards in a timely manner.
• Continuously assess student performance, providing constructive feedback, and design appropriate assessments to monitor progress and highlight areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and cooperative work environment, sharing best practices and resources.
• Opportunities to teach RPQ (projects) & GNT (Gifted and Talented).
Brief Description of SCIE
We are a high school offering a UK curriculum with Cambridge International AS/AL & IGCSE education taught in English, primarily for Chinese students preparing for international university studies.
Since 2025, we have expanded to include an AP stream, offering opportunities for teachers interested in AP instruction across various subjects.
Our mission is to educate students in a Challenging, International Environment that fosters high academic achievement while nurturing social responsibility, creativity, independence, and enthusiasm, ensuring students are well-prepared for future opportunities.
• Selective admissions process – includes English and Mathematics assessments.
• Instruction and communication at the AS/AL level conducted in English, with students achieving first-language proficiency, primarily studying AS/AL English language or literature in A1/A2.
• Over 1800 students, exclusively high school – UK Key Stages 4 & 5.
• Accreditation – Fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) & WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the US), and regional members of FOBISIA & EARCOS.
• Examinations – AS/AL, IGCSE (Cambridge International and AQA), and AP (College Board).
• Day and boarding school – teachers are not required to participate in boarding duties or evening shifts.

Specific Responsibilities:
We are looking for a dedicated Physical Education teacher with a background in sports or exercise science. Teaching experience in IGCSE/GCSE Physical Education or AS/AL Physical Education is essential. The role includes managing at least one sports team, with a preference for coaching experience in volleyball or basketball at the high school level.
Students
• Our students are motivated and academically inclined.
• Students complete IGCSE exams at the end of G2, advancing to 5/6 AS subjects and 4/5 A Level subjects (including English) or opting for an AP curriculum.
• Average international exam results across the school typically fall within the A/A* range.
• In the 2025 cohort, 41 offers were made to Oxbridge, with over 90% of students applying to the UK receiving offers from top 10 universities.
• Offers have been extended from US institutions including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Chicago, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Columbia, and Cornell.
• Students excel across various subjects, including Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Languages, Science, and Mathematics.
• Class sizes are capped at 26 for IGCSE and 24 for AS/A Level.
• A diverse array of extracurricular activities is available, with over 200 clubs led by both staff and students.
Schedule
• Workweek: Monday – Friday 07:50 – 16:40 (with a 07:30 start on Mondays and an early finish at 15:00 on Fridays).
• Standard teaching time – 24 x 40-minute periods weekly (approximately 50% timetable).
• Personal time – 6 periods per week allocated in the timetable when presence at work is not mandatory.
• Extra-Curricular Activity – 1 hour per week for ECA after school (16:30 – 17:30).
• CPD – a wide range of professional development opportunities available both online and in-person.
• Holidays – 1 week for the October China National Day holiday, 2 weeks for Christmas holiday, 3 weeks for Chinese New Year holiday, Chinese public holidays, and a summer break from mid-June to early August.
Pastoral
At SCIE, pastoral care is a core component of our mission. All classroom teachers are integral in supporting student well-being and safety, fostering a sense of belonging throughout their college experience.
• Form tutor role – most classroom teachers will oversee a form group of approximately 20 students. This role includes regular one-on-one mentoring sessions, consistent form time with the group, and teaching a weekly PSHE lesson. As the primary contact for students, form tutors are tasked with building relationships with their tutees beyond the classroom. This role comes with an additional allowance.
• Teachers without a form tutor role may be asked to undertake additional pastoral responsibilities as required.
• Pastoral professional development – in addition to annual safeguarding training, there are further opportunities to enhance your practice in this area and contribute to overall school pastoral development.
