About This Role

Location: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tongxiang, Yantai, Hongkong.

Duties:

A. Knowledge and Understanding:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the Sciences as defined by the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IB frameworks.
- Exhibit a profound understanding of the subject matter pertaining to the Sciences.
- Address subject-specific questions from students effectively while being aware of common misconceptions and errors within the field.
- Familiarity with all secondary school curricula and assessment standards is essential.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:
- Articulate clear educational goals, lesson content, structures, and sequences that correspond with the subject and students' learning needs.
- Set high expectations for student learning and motivation, creating specific targets based on their prior achievements and experiences.
- Identify students with special educational needs, as well as those who are gifted and talented, and provide appropriate, targeted support, including the implementation and documentation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when necessary.

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:
- Implement effective instruction for whole classes, groups, and individuals to ensure teaching objectives are met while sustaining engagement and challenge, thereby maximizing teaching time.
- Utilize captivating teaching strategies that stimulate intellectual curiosity, effective questioning, clear presentation, and appropriate resource usage.
- Uphold high standards of student behavior, promoting discipline through focused instruction and positive relationships.
- Foster positive behavioral patterns, enhance self-esteem, and encourage independent learning in students within an ICT framework.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess the degree to which learning objectives have been achieved and use these evaluations to guide future teaching strategies.
- Grade and oversee students’ classwork and homework, offering constructive oral and written feedback while setting progress targets.
- When relevant, be familiar with the expectations outlined by the National Curriculum for KS4 and KS5 students.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:
- Prepare and deliver informative reports to parents effectively.
- Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and create opportunities for students to link their learning with real-world and work-related examples.
- Collaborate with external agencies as necessary.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:
- Take responsibility for professional development and stay updated on current research and trends in pedagogy and the subjects taught.
- Acknowledge professional responsibilities concerning school policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Act as a positive role model for students regarding presentation and personal conduct.
- Reflect critically on one’s own teaching methods and use this reflection to enhance effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:
- Cultivate effective working relationships with professional colleagues, including co-teachers, specialized educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:
- Select and utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other educational resources effectively to achieve teaching objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a teaching certificate or license with robust subject knowledge.
- A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.
- Support the values of Yew Chung.
- Have a passion for teaching students.
- Exhibit a rigorous approach to teaching across various year levels.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
