Progress Leader
About This Role
Are you an empathetic, driven professional, passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, build resilience and reach their full potential? If so, we want to hear from you.
In the role of Progress Leader, you will play a pivotal part in creating a culture of high expectations, positive behaviour, and emotional well-being across your year group. Working closely with your fellow Progress Leaders, the Senior Leadership Team, school staff and external agencies, you will champion student success both inside and outside the classroom.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for your cohort, leading the Early Help process and attending multi-agency meetings. You will also deliver targeted interventions to key student groups, whilst taking the lead on a specialist area of pastoral welfare. Additionally, you will coordinate tutor time programmes, deliver assemblies, monitor student data, support key transition events, build strong relationships with families, and help organise enrichment opportunities.
We are looking for candidates with substantial experience working with young people in an educational environment, managing emotional or behavioural needs, and collaborating with external agencies. You should possess GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above and a good honours degree or equivalent. Further qualifications, such as an advanced safeguarding or social work qualification, are desirable. Excellent presentation, communication, and ICT skills are essential, alongside a strong knowledge of KS3 and KS4 pathways, normal child development, and behaviour management strategies. Above all, you must be a calm, empathetic, and solution-focused professional who treats every student with dignity and respect.
At Excel Learning Trust, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive in a safe, inclusive, and ambitious environment. Joining our team means benefiting from a supportive professional network, continuous development, and the chance to make a lasting difference in our school community. We also offer a range of staff benefits, and further details regarding our benefits and information about our Trust can be found here.
The trust will be undertaking a job evaluation exercise in the near future and, therefore, the grade for this position may change.
