Role Overview
Uptown International School is on the lookout for an innovative and forward-thinking Primary Computing Teacher to spearhead the creation and implementation of exceptional computing education for students in KG2 to Grade 5.

This position presents a rare chance for an enthusiastic educator to design a forward-looking digital curriculum that incorporates computing, digital literacy, and artificial intelligence into the broader primary curriculum while maintaining exemplary classroom practices through weekly specialist computing lessons.

The chosen candidate will be instrumental in helping our students acquire the skills, confidence, and ethical understanding necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning
- Develop and deliver weekly computing lessons for KG2 to Grade 5.
- Ensure lessons are engaging, inclusive, and in line with school curriculum standards and international best practices.
- Enhance students' skills in:
- Digital literacy
- Computational thinking
- Coding and problem-solving
- Online safety and digital citizenship
- Responsible and ethical use of AI and emerging technologies

Curriculum Development
- Lead the ongoing adaptation and improvement of the school’s computing curriculum to keep it current, progressive, and relevant.
- Ensure a clear progression of skills and knowledge across all primary phases.
- Integrate assessment and success criteria that reflect both technical abilities and higher-order thinking.

Cross-Curricular Integration
- Assist teachers in incorporating computing and AI into the wider curriculum, including English, Maths, Science, and PYP Units of Inquiry.
- Demonstrate effective classroom practices and provide practical strategies for meaningful technology application.
- Collaborate with subject and phase leaders to identify opportunities for digital innovation.

Leadership & Professional Development
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and continuing professional development for staff to enhance confidence and consistency in using computing and AI.
- Contribute to the overall digital strategy and innovation planning for the school.
- Aid in the development of policies concerning online safety, AI utilization, and digital learning.

Community & Safeguarding
- Foster strong online safety awareness among students, staff, and parents.
- Support school initiatives focused on digital wellbeing and responsible technology usage.

Person Specification

Essential
- Qualified teacher status or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- A clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching.
- Experience in teaching computing or digital learning within a primary education setting.
- Strong knowledge of progression in computing from early years to upper primary.
- Confidence in utilizing and explaining AI tools in an age-appropriate, ethical, and educational manner.
- Ability to inspire and assist colleagues through coaching and collaborative efforts.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Desirable
- Experience in leading a subject or curriculum area.
- Familiarity with IB PYP or inquiry-based learning methodologies.
- Experience in delivering staff professional development.
- Knowledge of international or UK primary computing frameworks.
