Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Physical Education Teacher who can inspire and engage students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 in the areas of physical fitness, wellness, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will be skilled at fostering a love for physical activity and health through culturally responsive and inclusive teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute age-appropriate physical education lessons that encourage physical activity, teamwork, and motor skills advancement.
  • Weave Indigenous cultural values and teachings into the physical education curriculum, highlighting the importance of Dakota Language and Culture.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes student participation and respects diversity.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and their families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and community members to improve student well-being and nurture an active school culture.
  • Participate in school activities, professional development, and community projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a focus on Physical Education/Kinesiology is preferred.
  • A valid teaching certification or the capacity to secure certification in Saskatchewan.
  • Experience with Indigenous communities or a strong interest in learning about and integrating Indigenous cultures into teaching practices.
  • A thorough understanding of and dedication to culturally responsive teaching.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of various ages and physical capabilities.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
