Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Physical Education Teacher who can inspire and engage students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 in the areas of physical fitness, wellness, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will be skilled at fostering a love for physical activity and health through culturally responsive and inclusive teaching strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute age-appropriate physical education lessons that encourage physical activity, teamwork, and motor skills advancement.
- Weave Indigenous cultural values and teachings into the physical education curriculum, highlighting the importance of Dakota Language and Culture.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes student participation and respects diversity.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to both students and their families.
- Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and community members to improve student well-being and nurture an active school culture.
- Participate in school activities, professional development, and community projects as required.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a focus on Physical Education/Kinesiology is preferred.
- A valid teaching certification or the capacity to secure certification in Saskatchewan.
- Experience with Indigenous communities or a strong interest in learning about and integrating Indigenous cultures into teaching practices.
- A thorough understanding of and dedication to culturally responsive teaching.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of various ages and physical capabilities.
