Math Catalyst
About This Role
Big River First Nation Education is seeking a Math Catalyst to join our education team for the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gathering resources to improve math teaching practices
- Incorporating Indigenous viewpoints and educational approaches into the math curriculum
- Providing leadership and support through demonstration and mentorship for teachers in curriculum design, assessment, and instructional methodologies
- Facilitating professional development sessions for staff on curricular programs and assisting in the implementation of instructional programs as outlined in the curriculum
- Working collaboratively with in-school personnel to explore a variety of math teaching strategies
- Assisting students in developing specific math competencies related to numbers, patterns/relationships, and spatial/shape concepts within the curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and scheduling abilities
- A Bachelor of Education degree along with a Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate
- Experience in teaching students with varying abilities
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Curriculum
- Experience working across cultures is a plus
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Ability to provide an acceptable Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Capacity to confirm previous teaching experience (if relevant)
