We are currently seeking a Mandarin teacher to join our On-Call roster for the 2025/26 school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a teacher-on-call for Grades 8 - 12
- Provide detailed notes for the regular teacher following each assignment
- Assist in supervising students during non-instructional periods
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff as needed
- Provide personalized instruction and learning support for individual students as required
- Participate in co-curricular activities and clubs as needed
- Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all health and safety protocols
- Perform other assigned tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
- Required: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteria
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a concentration in Mandarin and qualifications for teaching at intermediate and senior levels
- Prior experience as a Mandarin Teacher at the senior school level
- Comprehensive understanding of current educational practices as outlined by the BC Ministry of Education
- Familiarity with resources such as Chinese Made Easy, QTalk, and Ponddy is advantageous
- Experience in an independent school environment is a plus
- Awareness of the diverse learning styles of girls and young women
- Collaborative, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching
- Committed to the teaching profession, embracing best practices and professional standards
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
