With over 50 years of history, Rangitoto Kindergarten has deep roots in its community, underpinned by a rich Reggio Emilia inspired educational philosophy. Its beautiful environment reflects a strong commitment to excellence, with the Enviroschools kaupapa gently woven through everyday experiences for tamariki and whānau alike.

About the role

As head teacher, you will:

  • provide strong, relational leadership that nurtures a positive, collaborative team culture
  • lead curriculum design and assessment that reflects best practice in early childhood education, including Reggio-inspired approaches
  • foster warm, inclusive partnerships with whānau and the wider community
  • ensure compliance with ERO, Ministry of Education and association expectations
  • mentor and support Kaiako to continue to grow their professional practice
  • champion equitable, culturally responsive and inclusive learning for all tamariki.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is an experienced fully registered ECE teacher
  • has proven leadership and management experience of a New Zealand early childhood setting
  • demonstrates deep knowledge of Te Whāriki and contemporary ECE practice
  • has understanding of, or a strong interest in, Reggio Emilia philosophy
  • leads with warmth, integrity and strong communication skills
  • is confident in leading internal evaluation and continuous improvement
  • has a genuine passion for supporting tamariki, whānau and kaiako to thrive
  • can champion the kindergarten’s highly regarded place in the community.

Why Rangitoto Kindergarten and Kaitiaki Kindergartens?

As part of Kaitiaki Kindergartens, you will benefit from the excellent conditions of the Kindergarten Teachers Collective Agreement (KTCA) and be part of a supportive association committed to creating learning environments where tamariki, whānau, kaiako and kaimahi thrive.

The position is due to commence at the end of May. If you have proven leadership experience and seek a role where your vision, heart and expertise can truly make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
