About This Role
The Arbor School is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our dynamic community in a newly available position. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and will be responsible for supporting a team of inclusion educators, as well as aiding school staff in implementing evidence-based inclusive practices across the primary school, under the direction of the SENDCo and Head of Thrive. The selected candidate will adapt and design appropriate curricula and interventions to meet the needs of a diverse range of students, including those with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities. This role is perfect for someone skilled in coaching or mentoring fellow Arbor community members and who is passionate about participating in action research projects focused on developing sustainable skills.
Enough For All, For Ever
Founded in 2018, The Arbor School presents a distinctive vision of education—one that is experiential, authentic, and inspired by the natural wonders and significant ecological and social challenges of the Arabian Peninsula.
Our dedication to building a learning community focused on understanding and improving the health of ecological and human systems as interconnected entities demands a combination of optimism, ambition, and humility. We fundamentally believe in the inherent goodness of individuals and their capacity to act with empathy and compassion, which serves as the basis for hope essential for learning that aims to cultivate a sustainable future. The resilience and determination required to tackle global challenges are crucial for developing sustainable solutions and facilitating the social changes necessary for their realization. Acknowledging that we are all lifelong learners—not masters—drives our commitment to instill a passion for continuous learning.
By recognizing the interconnected nature of cognitive, emotional, and participative domains and their impact on learning, we are adopting a holistic educational approach that empowers learners to:
- Understand the interconnected principles of sustainability, individual and collective well-being, and social and environmental justice;
- Find purpose, joy, and meaning in their relationships with the natural world and each other, while striving to appreciate those who are different from themselves; and
- Experience achievement and self-efficacy through their contributions at home, in school, and the wider community.
