About This Role

GEMS American Academy's Secondary Division is in search of a Dean of Students. This role is essential in fostering character development among students within the Secondary Division. The Dean of Students will play a key role in promoting the IB Learner traits, Approaches to Learning (AtLs), and various elements of the School Development Plan. Additionally, the Dean will contribute to the realization of GAA's mission, vision, and educational philosophy.

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Secondary Principal, the selected candidate will:

● Engage in the creation and upkeep of a cohesive educational program tailored to meet the diverse needs of all students
● Support the promotion and implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and restorative practices
● Collaborate closely with the High School and Middle School Vice-Principals to enforce the student handbook and offer targeted program support
● Refer students to counselors and the Student Support Team (SST) to address individual student needs
● Assist in the student orientation and induction processes
● Enhance teachers' abilities to manage Level 1 infractions; provide recommendations for addressing Level 2 or Level 3 infractions
● Collaborate with the Pedagogical Leadership Team (PLT) to manage and set agendas for Heads of Grade meetings
● Support teachers through regular classroom walkthroughs, offering feedback focused on classroom structure, instructional feedback, and student management
● Work alongside the PLT to coordinate, plan, and implement school-wide professional development initiatives
● Coordinate with the Secondary Systems Coordinator to compile reports for accreditation as required by the Principal or Head of School
● Attend grade-level meetings as necessary and participate in all Heads of Department (HOD) meetings
● Actively contribute as a member of the Pedagogical Leadership Team
● Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents regarding student behavior, attendance, and other pastoral concerns
● Fulfill additional duties as assigned by Secondary School Administration

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
