About This Role

Lead the Future of Thinking: Head of Psychology (A-Level & IGCSE)

British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is seeking an intellectually curious, academically motivated, and innovative educator to lead our Psychology Department. This pivotal role within our Sixth Form offers a distinctive opportunity to guide a popular and essential subject at the foremost independent school in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

At BWIC, we are committed to a holistic approach to student growth, and we are looking for a leader who can bridge scientific inquiry with insights into human behavior, while fostering a culture of excellence among our senior students.

The Role

  • Department Leadership: Manage the Psychology curriculum, maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment throughout the A-Level program.
  • A-Level Instruction: Deliver the two-year British A-Level Psychology qualification (Cambridge CAIE), leading students through complex theories, research methods, and ethical considerations.
  • Interdisciplinary Teaching: Alongside directing the Psychology Department, you will also teach an additional subject at the IGCSE level. We welcome educators with backgrounds in subjects such as English, History, Sociology, or Drama, enhancing our diverse teaching offerings.
  • Community Engagement: Contribute to BWIC's community by potentially participating in initiatives such as a "Psychology Society," our Friday afternoon extracurricular program, or competitive sports activities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Educator: A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) and a strong Honors degree in Psychology or a related field are required.
  • A-Level Expertise: Proven experience in teaching Psychology at A-Level is crucial, with a track record of achieving outstanding examination results and fostering enthusiasm for the subject in students.
  • Versatile Instructor: Candidates should be capable and confident in teaching an additional subject at the IGCSE level, demonstrating the intellectual flexibility that defines our faculty.
  • CAIE Knowledge: While experience with the Cambridge International (IGCSE & A-Level) framework is beneficial, a strong dedication to high standards and professional adaptability is our priority.

Why Join BWIC?

  • Specialized Setting: Lead from our dedicated Sixth Form Centre, featuring modern IT labs and a culture that prioritizes academic excellence.
  • Small Class Sizes: Benefit from small seminar groups, which facilitate in-depth, university-style discussions and personalized academic support.
  • Unmatched Lifestyle: Embrace life on "Provo," where your professional experience is enriched by breathtaking beaches and a welcoming, international faculty community.
