CFIS is seeking a Food Service Assistant to work alongside our Food Service Manager. The perfect candidate will be organized, proactive, and possess strategic thinking abilities, along with a strong sense of community. The cafeterias are operational throughout the academic year (September to June), with shifts anticipated from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will assist the Food Service Manager in managing inventory and daily food operations across the two CFIS cafeterias, in addition to catering for events:
- Ensure compliance with AHS health and safety regulations and food service standards.
- Collaborate with the Cooks to develop and maintain recipe binders.
- Help prepare daily pre-order lists, calculate quantities based on meal counts, and coordinate with supplier packaging.
- Assist in tracking inventory.
- Organize and oversee monthly Pizza Days, including determining order quantities, preparing distribution lists, and liaising with volunteers.
- Organize and maintain all food service-related documentation.
- Familiarize yourself with the LunchTime ordering platform and payment system.
- Serve as a concession cashier when required.
- Take on various roles in the kitchen as needed to ensure sufficient staffing in both cafeterias.
- Use a personal vehicle to collect items from grocery stores and/or dry cleaners as needed.
- Assist with receiving cafeteria deliveries when necessary.
- Participate in any required work-related training.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
- Support school events and catering preparations under the guidance of the Food Service Manager.
Please be aware that flexibility and the capacity to assist with catering events outside of regular hours may be needed on occasion.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food service or an administrative position is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid AHS Food Safety Provincial certification or a willingness to obtain it.
- Proficient in technology, especially with MacBooks, Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, etc.
- A valid Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
- A valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are essential.
The successful applicant must provide or have on file an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work.

Compensation:
This position offers a wage of $22 per hour. The role consists of a regular four (4) hour shift each day or 20 hours per week (schedule may vary). The position qualifies for employee group benefits and the Level 1 – 3% RSP (Retirement Savings Plan) benefit. Employees receive two (2) weeks off during the winter break, one (1) week off in each February and March, and a summer break when the school is closed. Additionally, the Food Service Manager may request the employee to assist in late August with preparations for the upcoming school year.
