About This Role
ROLE SUMMARY:
St. George’s International School, situated in Clarens by the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, is a premier international institution providing a comprehensive education for students aged 3–18 within a vibrant and diverse community.
We are on the lookout for an English Teacher to become a part of our Middle and Senior School team. The ideal candidate will instruct one or more of the following programs: A Level English Literature, IB English A or B, and/or IGCSE English (First or Second Language). The position entails delivering captivating lessons, aiding student advancement, and actively participating in the broader school community.
Applications for both full-time and part-time positions are welcome.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach A Level English Literature, IB English A/B, and/or IGCSE English (First or Second Language).
- Be open to teaching an additional subject such as Global Perspectives or Theory of Knowledge (ToK).
- Provide high-quality instruction that fosters significant student progress and success.
- Maintain elevated expectations for students while contributing to a constructive learning atmosphere.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and prepare student reports in accordance with school guidelines.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance curriculum development and teaching methodologies.
- Cover classes as needed.
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold the values and expectations of the school.
- Engage with the school community through tutoring and pastoral support.
- Work effectively in a diverse international environment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching A Level English Literature, IB English A/B, and/or IGCSE English (First or Second Language).
- A university degree paired with a recognized teaching qualification.
- A solid understanding of English language curricula and the ability to deliver engaging lessons.
- Exceptional planning, assessment, and feedback abilities, along with proficiency in utilizing ICT in teaching.
- The capacity to establish clear expectations and facilitate student progress and achievement.
- Experience teaching Middle and Senior School students (ages 10–18).
- A genuine dedication to student wellbeing and safeguarding.
- A dynamic and adaptable approach, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- C2-level English proficiency (or equivalent native level).
