We are on the lookout for a skilled elementary school teacher to join our Middle School Program, specifically teaching Humanities for Grades 6 and 7. You will collaborate with a dedicated teaching team, nurturing the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Our teaching and learning practices are driven by a student-centered, collaborative philosophy that focuses on inquiry-based learning, enriching the educational experience for our students.

This position will span from September to March.

Responsibilities:
● Build a classroom community focused on social-emotional learning (SEL) for Grade 6 girls within a homeroom environment.
● Collaboratively plan the Grade 6 & 7 Humanities Curriculum, encompassing English Language Arts and Social Studies.
● Deliver engaging and interactive lessons.
● Address the varied needs of students through thoughtful planning and instruction, providing diverse entry points and extensions for individual learners.
● Employ various assessment methods to ensure timely, transparent, and strengths-based communication of learning.
● Foster a student-centered, inquiry-driven, and supportive culture for learning.
● Integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning experiences.
● Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administration to enhance student learning and well-being.
● Actively participate in school life, including co-curricular activities.
● Supervise students during non-instructional periods.
● Involve yourself in wider school events like community time, student leadership opportunities, and outdoor education experiences.

Qualifications:
● B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification.
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
● Prior experience in a middle school teaching role is advantageous.
● Knowledge of supporting diverse learning styles at the elementary level.
● A collaborative spirit with a passion for teaching.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Proven ability to be innovative, adaptable, and highly organized with attention to detail.
● Enthusiasm, dedication, and readiness to engage in the co-curricular program and the vibrant life of the school community.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
