Teacher, Humanities (Grade 6 & 7), Junior School Fixed-term Contract (Mat Leave) 2025-26

We are on the lookout for a seasoned elementary educator to teach Humanities within our Middle School Program (Grades 6 and 7). As part of a collaborative teaching team, you will support the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Our teaching and learning practices are informed by a student-centered, collaborative philosophy, with an inquiry-based focus designed to deepen the educational experience for our young learners. The ideal candidate will become a member of a lively, innovative school community dedicated to personal excellence, holistic child development, and overall well-being. Along with a fulfilling day spent with students eager to learn, you will collaborate with passionate educators, teachers, and leaders committed to the teaching profession. This contract will extend from March through June.

Responsibilities:
● Cultivate a classroom environment rich in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for Grade 6 girls in a homeroom setting.
● Collaborate with colleagues to plan the Grade 6 & 7 Humanities Curriculum (English Language Arts and Social Studies).
● Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons.
● Address the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching, providing multiple entry points and extensions tailored to individual learners.
● Employ a variety of assessment methods that enable timely, transparent, and strength-based feedback on learning.
● Establish a culture of inquiry-based, student-centered, and supportive learning.
● Integrate technology into teaching and learning in ways that add value.
● Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administration to enhance student learning and well-being.
● Actively participate in school life, including co-curricular activities.
● Assist in supervising students during non-instructional periods.
● Join in broader school events such as community gatherings, student leadership initiatives, and outdoor education experiences.

Qualifications:
● B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification.
● Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
● Experience teaching in a middle school setting is an asset.
● Knowledge of how to support various learning styles at the elementary level.
● Collaborative, enthusiastic, and passionate about teaching.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Proven ability to be innovative, adaptable, and highly organized with attention to detail.
● Energy, commitment, and willingness to engage in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
