Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and committed Guidance Counselor to join our educational team. This pivotal role focuses on fostering the academic, emotional, and social development of our students. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of student needs, exceptional communication skills, and a strong commitment to promoting a positive school climate.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide individual and group counseling to support students facing academic, social, and emotional challenges
· Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to identify students in need of assistance and develop intervention strategies
· Assist students in setting academic and career goals, advising them on course selections and post-secondary options
· Conduct assessments and interpret test results to help students recognize their strengths and areas for improvement
· Develop and implement programs to promote student well-being, resilience, and mental health awareness
· Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress
· Stay informed about local resources and services available to students and their families
· Facilitate workshops and seminars on various topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, substance use, mental health, and suicide prevention
· Advocate for students’ needs within the school to ensure they receive the appropriate support services
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
· Current certification or licensure as a Social Worker
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with students, parents, and staff
· Knowledge of developmental psychology and counseling techniques
· Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
· Experience in a school setting is preferred
· Relevant experience will be considered an asset
Work Environment: The Guidance Counselor will work within a school environment, interacting daily with students, faculty, and staff. This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours for events or workshops.
