About the Role
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils, families and staff to ensure excellent attendance across the school. Working closely with the Pastoral Team, you will monitor attendance, identify concerns at an early stage and coordinate effective interventions to help pupils overcome barriers to attending school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and making a positive difference to their educational journey.
Key Duties Include:
- Managing the day-to-day attendance processes, including first day calling, absence recording and communication with parents regarding attendance concerns.
- Monitoring attendance data and identifying pupils or groups whose attendance is causing concern.
- Producing detailed attendance reports and supporting early intervention strategies alongside the Pastoral Team.
- Leading School Attendance Meetings and liaising with external agencies where required.
- Working closely with parents, carers and staff to improve attendance and promote positive engagement with school.
- Maintaining accurate records on school systems including SIMS, CPOMS and ClassCharts.
- Supporting safeguarding and pupil wellbeing by identifying and reporting attendance-related concerns promptly.
- Promoting a culture where attendance is everyone's responsibility and helping staff understand attendance procedures and expectations.

- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, with the ability to analyse attendance data effectively.
- The ability to work confidently, sensitively and professionally with confidential information.
- A proactive, resilient and solution-focused approach to supporting pupils and families.
- Experience of working with young people, parents or within an educational environment (desirable).
- Knowledge of attendance procedures, safeguarding and pupil welfare (desirable).
