About This Role

SCSP Trustees, in conjunction with Fox Hill Interim Executive Board, are seeking to appoint an ambitious, committed and highly effective Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next stage of Fox Hill’s improvement journey.

This is an important appointment for our school. We are looking for an excellent teacher and developing or experienced school leader who shares our high expectations for children and who has the drive, resilience and leadership skills to help us secure consistently strong practice across Fox Hill.

The successful candidate will have a teaching responsibility alongside their leadership role, providing them with the opportunity to remain closely connected to classroom practice and the day-to-day experiences of our pupils and staff.

Alongside their wider responsibilities as an Assistant Headteacher, the successful candidate will hold strategic responsibility for Behaviour and Attendance.

About the role

As Assistant Headteacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and wider leadership team to support the strategic and operational leadership of Fox Hill.

You will be a highly visible leader who builds strong relationships with pupils, staff and families and who understands that successful school improvement depends upon clear expectations, consistency, strong relationships and effective implementation.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • undertaking a teaching responsibility and modelling consistently strong classroom practice;
  • contributing to the strategic leadership, self-evaluation and continued improvement of the school;
  • providing strategic leadership for Behaviour and Attitudes, ensuring consistently high expectations, routines and relationships across the school;
  • leading the continued implementation and development of our Relationships and Behaviour Policy and our values of Ready, Respectful and Safe;
  • providing strategic leadership for Attendance, including improving whole-school attendance and reducing persistent absence;
  • working closely with pastoral and attendance colleagues to identify barriers, support families and ensure appropriate intervention and escalation;
  • using behaviour, attendance and wider school information effectively to identify priorities and evaluate impact;
  • supporting and challenging colleagues to secure consistently strong practice;
  • contributing to monitoring, evaluation and review across the school;
  • working collaboratively with colleagues across Steel City Schools Partnership; and
  • deputising and undertaking wider whole-school leadership responsibilities as required.

About Fox Hill

Our school is moving through an important period of improvement and development. We are strengthening teaching and learning, establishing greater consistency in behaviour and routines, developing our curriculum and ensuring that attendance improves so that pupils are in school, engaged in learning and able to succeed.

Our school values - Ready, Respectful and Safe - provide the foundation for our expectations of pupils and adults. We are developing a culture in which relationships matter, expectations are clear and every member of our school community understands their contribution to improving outcomes for children.

Fox Hill also has a 21-place Integrated Resource and a developing nurture and pastoral offer. Inclusion is therefore central to our work, and the successful candidate will understand how effective teaching, positive behaviour, strong attendance and appropriate support combine to enable pupils with a wide range of needs to succeed.

Our success is due to our biggest and most valuable asset - our staff team. SCSP can offer you

  • Guidance of a supportive and experienced executive team who invest in the development of their leaders
  • Access to healthcare and wellbeing services
  • Encouragement for further and continued professional development
  • Pension Scheme

SCSP has a proven track record of securing transformational change and sustainable school improvement. Our vision is to provide high quality education and deliver the best outcomes for children and young people within an ethos based on our vision and underpinning aims.
