Job Type: Part-Time (40%) with an initial one-year contract, extendable by mutual agreement.
Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity available as our current Design teacher embarks on a PhD journey and transitions to a part-time position. This 40% role may not suffice for relocation to a new city or country, making it an excellent fit for a local designer, artist, or technologist who can seamlessly incorporate this position with their other endeavors.
At Thuringia International School, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding teaching and learning experiences that adhere to the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, with a specific emphasis on the Middle Years Program (MYP). Your duties will encompass collaboratively crafting and implementing engaging lessons, evaluating student progress, and providing timely, constructive feedback to empower students to become active learners who instigate positive change in the world.
Your students will be equipped to navigate the MYP with a profound understanding of design processes and the skills required to be proactive learners who drive positive change, in alignment with our school's Mission and Vision.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A degree and/or teaching qualifications recognized by the State of Thüringia.
- Prior teaching experience along with a solid grasp of the responsibilities associated with this role.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Familiarity with the IB curriculum, particularly the MYP, is advantageous.
- A portfolio that showcases ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the IB curriculum framework, ensuring comprehensive student development consistent with the school's Mission and Vision and our definition of High Quality Teaching and Learning.
- Provide clear, structured instruction tailored to diverse learners, fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and interdisciplinary connections while cultivating a global perspective and the ability to effect positive change.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through the administration and grading of assessments, assignments, and exams, adhering to IB assessment standards and reflecting the school’s commitment to critical thinking, creativity, and self-efficacy.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback that guides students in enhancing their work.
- Create and maintain an organized and respectful classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and wellbeing, encouraging students to reflect creatively and insightfully, recognize real-world applications of their learning, and collaborate with each other.
