About This Role

Foundation Stage Assistant Headteacher

Kings’ School Al Barsha is on the lookout for an outstanding Assistant Headteacher to become part of our vibrant and accomplished Primary Leadership Team starting in August 2026.

The chosen candidate will possess a strong track record in leadership and teaching, playing a pivotal role in promoting high standards within the Foundation Stage/EYFS phase.

This individual will work collaboratively to lead and support school-wide enhancement efforts and will report directly to the Primary Headteacher.

The ideal applicant will:


Possess a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Education.


Preferably hold a PGCE/PGDE and QTS.


Bring at least 3 years of leadership experience within the education sector.


Have recent leadership experience in a Primary environment, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams towards excellence while holding others accountable.


Exhibit supportive and positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.


Demonstrate the ability to devise creative solutions to overcome challenges to success.


Be innovative in improving their own and others’ practices to align with growing expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Quality

· Supervise student progress, departmental results, and curriculum quality.

· Assist teachers in effectively utilizing baseline data, setting targets, and guiding students.

· Ensure academic systems, including the school’s MIS and Self Evaluation Form, remain current and effective.

· Assess and evaluate teaching quality, leadership, and student success, including learning environments.

Staff Development and HR

· Aid in the recruitment, development, and appraisal processes for staff.

· Direct professional development initiatives and empower middle leaders.

· Handle HR issues, including attendance, disciplinary matters, and performance evaluations.

Strategic Leadership

· Prepare for DSIB/BSO inspections and oversee the academic action planning process.

· Support the strategic school development plan by establishing measurable goals for academic success.

· Ensure effective collaboration among leadership, staff, and the governing body to achieve school objectives.

Operational and Administrative Management

· Manage timetabling, daily cover arrangements, and the organization of internal and external examinations.

· Oversee academic spaces and ensure efficient use of resources, including ICT.

· Effectively communicate curriculum updates and academic progress to parents in a timely manner.

Pupil Performance and Enrichment

· Cultivate a strong culture of high expectations regarding behavior, attendance, and punctuality.

· Create and manage enrichment opportunities that challenge and motivate both students and staff.

Communication and Community Engagement

· Foster positive relationships with parents, staff, and students, ensuring clear and effective communication.

· Represent the school at community events and maintain an active presence in school life.

· Support marketing initiatives to celebrate and highlight academic achievements.

· Comprehensive understanding of DSIB (Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau) frameworks, curriculum design, and assessment methods.

· Leadership experience in enhancing achievement and managing change effectively.

· The ability to encourage collaboration, mentor staff, and implement innovative educational practices.
